About Me
Amanda specializes in acrylic and oil paintings, as well as color pencil drawings. She uses allegorical representation in relation to natural history, figures, and lore to describe the environments, emotions, and spiritual phenomena that comes through in her work. In these processes, she hopes to convey a dreamlike and magical ambiance which is her personal reflection on reality. Her primary style is realism but her subject matter has a more imaginative and surreal propensity. Growing up in an area surrounded by forests, Amanda believes that her primary influences came from the natural world that she was surrounded by. She spent much of her time in the woods exploring, climbing trees, and imagining surreal and otherworldly possibilities that nature had to offer. She finds beauty in the small things such as flowers, mushrooms, and insects. She is fascinated by the way they all work together and play an important part in our environment. She still possesses a childlike eagerness to pursue studies in botany and mycology and uses the scientific knowledge and observations to incorporate the spirit of nature into her work.
